About Me

Picture
I like to think of myself as an internationalist poet writing in the Modern Assyrian language (also known as Neo-Aramaic and sometimes as Syriac too). The language I write in is also my mother tongue which UNESCO has officially recognised as an endangered language. To me: poetry is more than a mere artistic expression, is its a poet's fight against the endangerment of his mother tongue. Thus, I feel that I am because I write and I write in order to be, poetry is an existential for me and my people.
